Boneyard OCR Compound - Peanut Lake (Obstacle Course Racing)

The Boneyard OCR Compound has been designed for obstacle racing and as such, trails are wide enough for multiple racers. Elevation changes are fully incorporated and feature obstacles to challenge multiple fitness levels with a single event. The Boneyard Compound is over 160 acres and contains 6km, 12km, 18km and 24km courses.

Loud partying, stereos at high volume and other rowdy behavior are not tolerated at any time.

Constant running of generators is considered excessive noise.

Please respect nature and your neighbours by keeping generator use to a minimum if it is not required for medical reasons.

Created in May 1999 to provide an area for non-motorized activity, including equestrian, and eliminate conflicts with summer motorized users. It contains some of the best (and one of the few occurences of) transverse dunes in Canada. The dunes are stabilized with jack pine-lichen forests. There are also a number of small lakes on the Reserve.

Holmes Crossing Sandhills Ecological Reserve is 27 square kilometers (10.4 square miles)

Camping permitted (random, no developed sites) • No-service • Campsites and fires must be at least 1 km from a Recreation Area, Provinvial  Park or a roadway • Off-highway Vehicles (OHV) are NOT permitted • Hiking • Equestrian • Wildlife Viewing • Geocaching • Cross Country Skiing • Alberta hunting regulations apply (Hunting is not permitted in Provincial Recreation Areas (PRAs) • Alberta fishing regulations apply
