Employer Eligibility:
- Must be incorporated/registered, and operate within the County or Town of Barrhead
- Must be in continuous operation in Alberta for a minimum of 2 complete fiscal years.
- Must have a minimum total gross annual revenue of $400,000 AND employ a minimum of 3 full-time (or full-time equivalent) workers.
- If the employer doesn't meet the minimum revenue or full-time worker requirements, they may still qualify for the program but will be restricted in the number of nominee applicants they can support. Read AAIP's Job Offer & Employment Requirements for more details.
- Select occupations are not eligible for this program, please see Job Offer & Employment Requirements linked above.
- Job must have been made available to Canadians first, at the same pay and working conditions
- Demonstrated efforts to recruit locally, provincially, and nationally
- Recommended that employers engage in at least 3 different recruitment efforts, include posting on Canada Job Bank for at least 3 consecutive weeks.
- Vacant position must be:
- Full-time (minimum 30 hours per week)
- Continuing (12 months or more)
- Non-seasonal (year-round)
- Conducted primarily within the County or Town of Barrhead
- Wages & benefits meet or exceed lowest starting wage for occupation across all industries in Alberta, as set out in the ALIS website.
- Job must pay at least $20.00 per hour (if offering the job after September 1, 2024).
- Positions paying less than $20.00 per hour are not eligible for the Rural Renewal Stream in Barrhead (some exception for jobs offered prior to Sept. 1, 2024, read more here)
