A Tax Certificate is a legal document from the County of Barrhead indicating the financial status of taxes for a particular property.  The certificate indicates whether taxes for the subject property are paid or are in arrears.
 
Tax Certificates may be required by individuals, law firms, or financial institutions when a property is being sold, refinanced or as verification of paid taxes for other purposes.
 
Tax Certificates cost $25 per parcel and may be purchased by submitting a written request.  Requests can be faxed, emailed, or mailed and must include:
  • Legal address (long legal, urban legal, or municipal address) of the property in question
  • Contact information for the individual or firm requesting the Tax Certificate

Payments for Tax Certificates can be made to the County of Barrhead via cash, cheque, debit or e-transfer.  E-transfer payments can be sent to payments@countybarrhead.ab.ca.

NOTE: Physical payment must be received in our office prior to the release of any information. Where your request is urgent, we recommend payment be made by e-transfer.
