The Town of Barrhead operates the Barrhead Regional Landfill, as well as two recycling stations.  Questions regarding either service can be directed to the Town office at (780-674-3301).
 
Barrhead Regional Landfill
The Regional Landfill is located west of the Town of Barrhead (60009 Rge Rd 43), and is available for Town and County residents to use.  
 
Fees & Charges:
No fees are charged for disposal of household garbage.  Fees may apply to disposal of demolition materials & industrial waste at the Regional Landfill Site. For current fees & costs, visit Barrhead.ca/p/Landfill.

Recycling Centers 
Recycling stations are located at the Regional Landfill and in the Town of Barrhead (4406-62A Ave, Barrhead). 
 
A variety of materials are accepted for recycling, including:
  • Cardboard: Corrugated cardboard, cereal boxes (flattened, bundled or bagged). No wax boxes.
  • Paper: Newsprint, magazines, catalogs, white or colored ledger paper & computer paper.
  • Tin: Soup cans, juice cans, pet food cans, etc. (cleaned, rinsed and labels removed).
  • Plastics: All plastic #1 to #7 (cleaned and rinsed), includes milk jugs, yogurt containers, any refundable plastic and juice boxes. NO PLASTIC BAGS, WRAP, OR STYROFOAM.
  • No glass is being accepted at this time.
There is also an oil recycling station at the Regional Landfill, open on Thursdays from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Containers can be emptied into the receptacle, and used containers and pails can be left for pick up if no longer needed.
