FIRE RESTRICTIONS HAVE BEEN LIFTED, effective 4:30 pm on May 30, 2024.  There are currently no fire restrictions in the County of Barrhead, except for the province's Forest Protection Area (see below).

Fire Ban in Forest Protection Area:
Even though the County of Barrhead is not currently under a fire ban, the Province of Alberta has instituted a fire ban in the Forest Protection Area.  This area encompasses some of the north and northwest parts of our County, including:
  • Holmes Crossing Municipal Campground
  • Holmes Crossing Sandhills Ecological Area
  • Klondike Ferry Municipal Campground

Campers in Holmes Crossing Campground or Klondike Ferry Campground are not permitted to have open campfires at this time, until the ban is lifted in the Forest Protection Area.  Propane BBQs are still allowed.

Find more information about the Forest Protection Area and fire ban regulations, visit www.albertafirebans.ca
